An illustrator always needs challenges, because each challenge increases his artistic potential and gives him an opportunity to find out something fresh in his field. It may seem that only a brand new task could be a great challenge. However, to create an illustration in the same style but not at the same time and, thus, to continue a series of illustrations for the period of the whole year or longer, often can be a much bigger challenge.

Illustrations for the VEGGO brand are an important step in my creative career. The first ones were created in 2018. I am glad for an opportunity to keep improving this style. The graphic concept of these illustrations demonstrates one of my main visual expressions combining traditional and digital techniques. Handmade ink-line and digital coloring are the basic media which are used in the start of my career as an illustrator. A drawing on paper for me is the basis of the emotional load of illustration. Have you ever noticed how nowadays digital media tries to imitate traditional graphic techniques and, hereby, to give a visual impression of a handmade drawing? And this fact confirms that the handmade drawing created with the traditional graphic techniques is irreplaceable. The ink-line can be pretty simple, is very powerful, because of the artist’s energy which it always carries.

This time I had to carry out a task to draw two illustrations of vegan burgers. The biggest challenge for me was to convey a realistic view of the roasted burger and a beetroot. First of all, I made a few sketches searching for a composition concept. It was not easy, at all, because both illustrations were composed of the same elements. So, I had to find the solution, how to reveal them in different ways. Also, to create a more refined and fresh image of the burger in general.
And here is the result.

The composition of this illustration is rather asymmetric and very dynamic. Composing all the elements the aim was to create a balanced view of the composition.
Illustration covered in colors
Although, illustrations were not composed of many elements, it wasn’t an easy task to find a really tasty looking color. Working with the combination of red and green is always a bit risky. So, I decided to combine cold red and warm green tones and vice versa. And that was a solution, which gave me the desired result. Please, take a look.

Unlike the first one, this illustration is more static and enclosed. Therefore, the illustrations look different enough and specific. That's a very important aspect for package illustration.
