I have a great time studying forms of nature time after time.
I love looking at small objects from very close and finding out unbelievable things.
After one of that research I noticed that barks covered by moss remind something.
So, I had started sketching and created some kind of new creatures.
There are three characters which I called 'forest creatures', made from bark and moss.
In each illustration there is a small boy or girl who communicates with a living being.
In this way I wanted to show the unity of nature and human.
THE BEGINNING OF THE PROCESS...
The inspiration: small pieces of bark, branches and various kind of the moss.
A close look to them all,
identifying their textures, characters on the paper with the ink pen,
seeing and finding associations with something what does not exist... yet.
And — the journey of the imagination begins!

FOREST
CREATURE
I

That was the first character I had imagined while I was studying barks and moss.
It was a great experimental practice for me to find a variety of textures,
to see the light and to make a sensitive graphic picture,
even though a creature is like a sculpture and looks heavy enough.

There is the first final character.
A few fragments of the work.
A process: how the drawing was made step after step.
FOREST
CREATURE
II

A piece of bark and moss on its surface are really small things.
Creating this and other characters I tried to show these details in a bigger plan,
in order to see better what a kind of the world they are.
This creature is the tallest one. It almost can achieve the clouds and to hide its head sometimes.

There is the second final character.

The process.
FOREST
CREATURE
III

There is one more creature, which is identified by its horns-branches.
It is not so tall as the second one, but has a big weight.
The details of the leaning back bark reminds some part of dragon.
So, it could be called 'forest dragon'.

There is the third final character.
A few fragments of the work.
The view of the process.
